Autumn Leaves #1

Come scarlet, come gold, come orange, come umber

Ablaze are the trees before winter’s slumber

Come brusque, wholesome winds clear, crisp and refreshing

Donned is the earth in Fall’s luminous dressing

Come leaves underfoot, crunch, rustle and crackle

Busy are the squirrels, goldfinches and grackle

Come apples, come cider, come pumpkins and gourds

Aloft are our spirits as we look inward towards

Family, and friends, hearth, harvest and love

Autumn’s a gift from the heaven’s above.
